THE UNIFORM AD VALOREM METHOD
OF COLLECTION OF A
NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENT
FOR DEMOLITION OF UNSAFE STRUCTURES
Notice is hereby given to all owners of lands located within the boundaries of the Town of Windermere, Florida that Windermere intends to use the uniform ad valorem method for collecting a non-ad valorem assessment that potentially may be levied by Windermere, as set forth in Section 197.3632 of the Florida Statutes, and that the Windermere Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as the matter may be considered) at Town Hall, 520 Main Street, Windermere, FL 34786.
Interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard with respect to the proposed Ordinance.
The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the adoption of a Resolution stating Windermere's intent to use the uniform ad valorem method of collecting a non-ad valorem assessment that potentially may be levied by Windermere, as provided in Section 197.3632 of the Florida Statutes. Windermere is considering authorizing and imposing a non-ad valorem assessment which, if authorized and imposed, will continue from year-to-year until otherwise determined by the Town Council. If authorized and imposed, the non-ad valorem assessment will be imposed to reimburse Windermere for costs and expenses incurred when Windermere demolishes unsafe structures when the costs and expenses are not paid timely by the property owner, property agent, custodian, lessee, or occupant.
If authorized, the non-ad valorem assessment may be levied for the first time in 2015.
Interested parties may appear at the public hearing to be heard regarding the use of the uniform ad valorem method of collecting such non-ad valorem assessments. If any person decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at this public hearing such person will need a record of proceedings, and for such purpose the person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made at their own expense and which record includes the testimony and evidence on which the appeal is based.
