NOTICE
The City Commission of the City of Sarasota is seeking individuals willing to serve on the following Advisory Boards:
Board of Rules and Appeals
• Licensed mechanical contractor
• Licensed fire alarm contractor
• Two seats for individuals with education, experience and knowledge to be deemed competent to sit in judgement of matters concerning the Florida Building Code and the Florida Fire Prevention Code
• Licensed general contractor
• Licensed fire sprinkler contractor
• Licensed architect
• Two seats for consumer representatives who are not, and never have been a member or practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession
Citizens with Disabilities Advisory Board
One seat - preference for city resident
Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board (CRAAB)
Five seats with the following requirements:
• Individual involved in planning or design in the redevelopment area
• Resident of the redevelopment area
• Resident of City of Sarasota
• Citizen at large
• Individual involved in finance and banking
Downtown Improvement District Board of Directors
Two seats for non-residential property owners subject to ad valorem taxation within the District
Historic Preservation Board
One seat with the following requirement:
• Practicing Professional Historian or Archaeologist
Human Relations Board
One seat - preference for city resident
Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board
Three seats with the following requirements:
• Resident of the redevelopment area
• Citizen at large who is a city resident
• Individual involved in finance and banking
Parks, Recreation & Environmental Protection Advisory Board
Five seats with the following requirements:
• Two seats with preference for city resident
• Citizen with a particular interest in or association with Bobby Jones Golf Course
• Citizen with a particular interest in or association with Robert L Taylor Community Center
• Citizen with a particular interest in or association with Lido Pool
Police Complaint Committee
One seat for a member, required to be city resident
Police Officers' Pension Fund Board of Trustees
One seat for a city resident who shall be appointed by the City Commission
St Armands Special Business Improvement District Board of Directors
One seat for an individual who is subject to ad valorem taxation within the District either personally or through a beneficial ownership in an entity which is subject to ad valorem taxation in the District
Tree Advisory Committee
Applicants must submit completed Citizen Advisory Board applications to the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk no later than Friday, October 27, 2017 so that appointments may be made on Monday, November 6, 2017. Applicants should note on the top of the application which seat they qualify for from the below seat requirements:
• Two seats for neighborhood representatives
• Two seats for development interest representatives
• One seat for downtown core resident
• One seat for Chamber of Commerce representative or downtown core merchant
• One seat for landscape architect or arborist
Preference is given to persons who reside or own property in the City of Sarasota.
