The City Commission of the City of Sarasota is seeking individuals willing to serve on the following Advisory Boards:
Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
Two seats with the following requirements:
• Citizen who is representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing
• Citizen who represents essential services personnel as defined in the Local Housing Assistance Plan
Board of Adjustment
Two seats, required to be city residents
Board of Rules and Appeals
Ten seats with the following requirements:
• Licensed engineer
• Licensed mechanical contractor
• Licensed fire alarm contractor
• Two seats for individuals with education, experience and knowledge to be deemed competent to sit in judgement of matters concerning the Florida Building Code and the Florida Fire Prevention Code
• Licensed fire sprinkler contractor
• Licensed architect
• Licensed plumbing contractor
• Two seats for consumer representatives who are not, and never have been a member or practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession
Citizens with Disabilities Advisory Board
One seat with the following requirement:
• STAR (Students Taking Active Roles) Program member - for more information on the STAR program contact The Boys & Girls Club Leadership Program at (941) 217-5295
Employee Retirement Account Committee
Two seats with the following requirements:
• One seat with preference for individual with investment banking or investment management experience
• One seat with preference for participant of the plan
Historic Preservation Board
Two seats with the following requirements:
• Architect who is a city resident or owns property in the city
• Attorney who is a city resident or owns property in the city
Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board
One seat with the following requirement:
• Citizen at large who is a city resident
Nuisance Abatement Board
Two seats with preference for city residents
Parks, Recreation & Environmental Protection Advisory Board
Two seats with the following requirements:
• Citizen with a particular interest in or association with Robert L Taylor Community Center

Planning Board/Local Planning Agency
Two seats, required to be city residents
Police Complaint Committee
Two seats for members, required to be city residents
Sarasota Housing Authority
One seat with the following requirement:
• Resident (current in rent) of a housing project or a person receiving a rent subsidy through the Housing Authority
Sarasota County Stormwater Environmental Utility Advisory Committee (SEUAC)
Two seats are reserved on this Sarasota County Advisory Board for city residents
Preference is given to persons who reside or own property in the City of Sarasota.
