NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Chapter 143-8.A, of the Code of the City of Ocoee, that on TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 2023, at 6:15 p.m., or as soon thereafter as practical, the OCOEE CITY COMMISSION will hold a PUBLIC HEARING at the Ocoee City Commission Chambers, 1 North Bluford Avenue, Ocoee, Florida, to consider the following Ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, RATIFYING CITY OF OCOEE RESOLUTION 2023-06; RESCINDING THE CITY'S CALL FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE DISTRICT 4 COMMISSION SEAT SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 13, 2023; CALLING INSTEAD FOR A GENERAL CITY ELECTION AND SCHEDULING SUCH ELECTION ON MARCH 19, 2024, TO COINCIDE WITH ORANGE COUNTY MUNICIPAL ELECTION DAY AND THE PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY, FOR THE ELECTION FOR THE DISTRICT 4 COMMISSION SEAT, PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CHARTER, AND ANY OTHER MATTERS REQUIRING A MUNICIPAL ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR A QUALIFYING PERIOD AND SCHEDULE FOR RUN-OFF ELECTION TO BE APPLIED IN CONJUNCTION WITH SAID ELECTION; DESIGNATING THE ORANGE COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD AS THE CITY CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE GENERAL CITY ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The City Commission may continue the public hearing to other dates and times as desires. Any interested party shall be advised that the dates, times, and places of any continuation of this or continued public hearings shall be announced during the hearing and that no further notices regarding these matters will be published.
A copy of the proposed Ordinance may be inspected at the Ocoee City Clerk Department, 1 North Bluford Avenue, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays. Interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard with respect to the proposed Ordinance. Any person who desires to appeal any decision made during the public hearing will need a record of the proceeding and for this purpose may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made which includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.
